Blankner School 2012 Art Show
I really LOVE Lexi’s art teacher. Every year she exhibits the students’ paintings, which double as their final in her class. They have the option to exhibit their piece for sale. If it’s sold the money goes directly to the student/artist. Even checks are written to the student, if not paid in cash. It’s a wonderful way to show the value of art and that money can be made in a creative field. There were even hors d’oeurves and fancy-pants fondant mini cake bites.
I was blown away by a lot of the work. I hope the market is ready for some talent in a few years!

(taken with my iPhone)
Sunday morning.
My mom came by after church and we make a quick trip to Mills Market before she and Lexi headed over to her house for the day. As always, she fought about paying. I’ve realized that I can usually calm things by allowing her to pay for only Lexi.
Lox and a bagel -light on the capers. It’s my go to Mills Market breakfast. Oh, and also with the largest coffee cup that they’ll hand me.

a viking and a bow tie.
The Orlando Rep takes on a production every year based around submitted writing from students. The program is called Writes of Spring.
The writer has a tough job of weaving a cohesive story together using all of the parts and pieces, that many times are worlds apart. I realized how tough a job that was when the winning students were on stage introducing themselves and very briefly discussing what they submitted.
They had some stations set up in the lobby to actively engage people, before going into the theatre. We headed over to the dress up station, immediately. Hence the weird viking portrait.
Once again a great program from The Rep and a fun night out with the family.
